Saint Croix Transportation

Planes, Trains Boats, and Autos...The first recommendation is to work with Margi Levy on any of your travel needs. Margi can often find better flight fares than are available online. She can also help with hotels, car rentals, tours, etc.

Flights to STX:

Alternative Flights:

You can also sometimes fly into hubs such as San Juan, or even St. Thomas, and then get over to St. Croix.

This page on St. Croix tourism has an extensive list of puddle jumpers and other options.

Flights such as Seaborne airlines can be a fun and different way to travel, if you want a little adventure. The nice thing is, you can fly into San Juan (SJU), take a taxi to Old San Juan (20 minutes, $20 approximately), where you can catch the sea plane. The sea plane will literally arrive on the boardwalk of Christiansted, about 100 meters from the Holger Danske Hotel.

***NOTE: If you choose this option, note that your luggage weight on these planes is significantly less than 'normal' commercial flights. Check website for details.

Car Rentals

If you are staying in Christiansted, you can walk almost anywhere. For the big events (wedding, beach party) we will have transportation available for people.

A car rental can be fun to explore the island, but probably not needed for the entire time you are in St. Croix if you are staying in Christiansted. Remember a few warnings about rental cars in St. Croix:

    • St. Croix drives on the left side of the road. This is especially tricky for right side drivers after a couple 'Cruzan Confusions" from the local bartender.
    • Navigating the island can be confusing, misleading, and tricky.
    • Don't get mad when the road signs are either wrong, or non-existent. Lower your expectations...
    • Drinks are poured on island with two heavy hands.
    • It's nice to use taxis... they are available in Christiansted most anytime.
    • Parking in Christiansted can be a pain.

That being said, here are some recommendations outside the normal Expedia/Orbitz/Travelocity seearch if you do want to rent a car:

    • Centerline Car Rental   Local agency that usually offers better rates, and has a good reputation on island.
    • Margi (mentioned above) also has connections to discounted rates.

Taxis

Taxis from the airport are available. Usually $10-$15 per person to get to Christiansted is the normal fare. You can generally always find a taxi once in Christiansted, should you wish to get to somewhere outside of town.
